Crick Post Office

OUR HISTORY
The original part of the building dates back over 300 years and was once a Public House known as The Flying Horse. In its time, the pub was well frequented by boaters travelling along the nearby Grand Union Canal, serving as a popular stopping point within the village. During this period, many of the narrowboats navigating the canal were horse-drawn, reflecting the rich transport heritage of the area. The site still retains features from this era. The outbuildings that now form part of the Post Office premises were formerly used as stables for the boaters’ horses, and the original lashing hooks remain visible on the walls, marking the very spots where the horses were once tethered.
About Our Team

I took over the Post Office in December 1991 with my parents having previously worked at Vauxhall Motors in Luton where I served a Technical Apprenticeship and went on to work in Time and Motion and subsequently Logistics.
Since coming to Crick I have seen many changes including the bypass of Crick and many new houses doubling the size of the village.
In the past decade I have seen the demise of Kilsby, West Haddon and Yelvertoft Post Offices which has gone along way to maintaining the service in Crick.
Margaret and I married in 1999 after some match making by a former employee “Maureen” and our Daughter Phoebe was born a couple of years later.
Margaret originally came over from Poland to help her Aunt look after her Uncle in Brixworth.
